Lunch Pail Tree Fruit

"Oh look, Billina! There's a lunch pail tree! Now I know we're in Oz!"

Behold my very own fanmade fruit of the lunch pail tree of Oz! I made this about a year ago back after I noticed that people had made their own fanmade lunch pails based off the ones that appear in Return to Oz, and since I had finished work on ol' Jack over here, I decided to make my own.

Standing about eight inches high from base to stem, the lunch pail is made out of a discarded cottage cheese tub that's been colored with spray paint; the faux leaves are hot-glued to a green Styrofoam bell that has been hot-glued to the lid; the stem is two pipe cleaners that have been twisted together and shoved through the lid; the inside of the pail is lined with paper toweling that has been glued with wood glue to keep it in place; and the little white ring on the mouth of the pail is felt that has been attached and secured with wood glue.

Special thanks goes out to my parents for helping me get the materials for this, helping me spray paint the colors onto the pail, and for helping me hot-glue the Styrofoam and leaves. And another special thanks to my sister's flowering dogwood tree (photo 1) for being low enough to the ground for me to attach my lunch pail to it for the photos XD

Update 5/22/2016: I'll have to repaint the lunch pail. The ink on the cottage cheese tub was absorbed into the spray paint, which is cracking off. Though the good thing about that is that it means that since it's happened once, it won't happen again later on (hopefully).

Update 12/5/2021: The plastic in the lunch pail cracked a few years back. I unfortunately don't think it can be salvaged, so this project has been trashed. The Styrofoam bell with the leaves was repurposed into an Enchanted Tiki Room-themed floral arrangement I made back in 2020, which I may someday post photos of.
